Our workday that was planned for the 23rd and then the 30th will now be April 6th. (Having any equipment on the grass would do more harm than good at this point.) We are going to mainly be doing tree trimming and tree removal. We’ll be working from 9-1 with a lunch meal provided. Thanks in advance if you are able to join us! (Any chainsaws, trimmers, and/or tree removal equipment is welcomed!)
Summer camps are getting closer and CRC is now taking registrations for our Elementary and Jr. High camps! We would love to have your student join us as we enjoy activities, God, and His creation! The Elementary camps are for students who will be entering grades 3-6 next school year and the Jr. High camp is for students entering 7-9. Below are links to the downloadable brochures.
Travel Camp is heading to Canada this year. Registration opens January 1st. Please print, fill-out, and mail in the registration form along with a $50 deposit. Click the link to access the 2018 TC Brochure – Canada.
Here is a neat video highlighting 40 years of Travel Camp! Enjoy the trip down memory lane!!
Merry Christmas from all of us at The Christian Resource Center,
Many apologies for this slightly overdue update, but we wanted to give those of you who were unable to make the Travel Camp Reunion a run-down of how the amazing day went. The morning started off with coffee and great caramel rolls during the registration time. It was fun to see eyes light up as old friendships were rekindled and fond memories were shared.
The formal part of the morning kicked-off with a few introductions and Bill Honsberger leading some vintage silly and serious songs. Paul and Kathy shared about the history of Travel Camp, a few highlights and fun memories, and a gratefulness for the opportunity to be involved in something that God has used to change and shape lives. Gary Oliver, who helped Travel Camp get started at CRC, was unable to attend but sent a nice video with a few memories and a congratulations to Paul and Kathy for putting on over 40 Travel Camps!
The floor was then opened up for sharing to anyone that wanted to. You never know exactly how an “open-mic” session will go, but leading up to the reunion we prayed on multiple occasions for the day and God definitely answered as many took the opportunity to share! Some of the highlights of this were hearing from former staff, and hearing about funny pranks and mishaps along with how God had used His Word and the lives of the staff and the other campers to influence people for the growth and spread of the Kingdom. The morning definitely went by too quickly. We wrapped up our morning with a praise time led by Clayton Kliewer and Jeremy and Sara LaBrie as well as a few closing thoughts by Jordan Grantham.
The delicious noon meal was served by T&L Catering and that was followed by era pictures. You can also visit us on facebook: CRC – Christian Resource Center. Lastly, you can also view pictures of the day using the hashtag #travelcamp40. The afternoon was open for families to enjoy the CRC grounds, and many continued to visit and reminisce. The evening was spent with an open to the public concert with I Am They, Remedy Drive, and Ryan Martinez. The concert had roughly 300 attenders and was a great end to the day.
The last item we would like to touch on is the Travel Camp Book that Kathy is writing and compiling! We would love to have your input!! Please email back by January 7th, any TC story, funny or impactful, that might be a good addition to the book. We are hoping to get the books printed in late January. Also, if you would like to order one please send $15 to CRC attention “TC Book” to help cover printing and mailing. The books are being spiral bound and this will give us a good idea of how many to order. We are also going to be making our CRC updates available through email. If you would like to be on the list that gets 1-2 updates per year please email “update” to firstname.lastname@example.org .
Travel Camp has been used by God over the years and we are praying that that would continue! Lord willing, we will be able to celebrate many more years of Travel Camp! Thank you in advance for your prayer and support!
CRC is hosting an area wide concert event the late afternoon and evening of September 30th. There will be fun for the whole family with outdoor games and activities, hiking, music, and food vendors. The bands are going to be I Am They, Remedy Drive, and rap artist Ryan Martinez. Here is the iTickets link to purchase tickets for this event!! Concert Event
We are happy to announce that we are having a Travel Camp Reunion encompassing all 40, soon to be 41 years of them! All TC alumni are invited to attend! The reunion is going to be on September 30, 2017.
Dear fellow TC alumni,
It is with great joy and anticipation that I bring to you a special “once in a lifetime” opportunity to be involved in! On September 30, 2017, the Christian Resource Center is hosting a reunion for all the travel camps over the past 41 years! You, as an alum (and your spouse if applicable), are invited to come reminisce and reconnect with fellow campers and former staff as we celebrate what God has done over the years through Travel Camp and the faithful ministry and leadership of Paul and Kathy Nauman and other staff!
The day is planned to begin at 9 a.m. with registration and an informal time for coffee and visiting. At 10 a.m. we will have a more formal time of praise and worship and sharing some thoughts from the past 40 years. We’ll also be updating everyone on the present and future needs of Travel Camp and CRC and how you can be involved. We’ll be sharing a noon meal together followed by some more informal mingling. Many of the former staff will be attending as well! In the early afternoon any of your children are invited to join us for introductions and recreation. Some of those options include hiking, lawn games, canoeing, volleyball, challenge course, and inflatables!
Beginning in the late afternoon, there is going to be an outdoor concert with the bands I Am They, Remedy Drive, and rap artist Ryan Martinez! The public is invited to the concert as well with the goal of outreach in mind. It is going to be a festival style event where vendors will be available with food and band merchandise for purchase.
For those attending the reunion the cost is $27 for an individual and $50 for a couple. This will cover the catered noon meal, concert admission, and a couple chapters of the Travel Camp “novella” that Kathy is writing! If you have any stories (funny, impactful, life-changing) that you would like to share, your input to this project would be appreciated. Please email them to us or bring them with you to the reunion.
To register for this event, please click this link Travel Camp Reunion or go to eventbrite.com and search Travel Camp. We would love to have you join us for this celebration and look forward to hearing from you! You can also visit the CRC website www.crcnebraska.com and facebook page and check out the event page.
Most of you will have connections to Nebraska and potentially access to some sort of child care for the morning. If you are struggling to find a viable option, please contact us because we do have some non-alumni that are willing to serve in this capacity! Lastly, our email contact list is close to 75% of all the former campers. If you are able to “talk-up” the reunion and/or share links/pages on fb, we would love to have as many alumni know about the weekend as possible!
With much excitement,
Jordan Grantham, CRC
